I actually am pretty surprised at myself. Summer is movie time for me, starting usually at or around Memorial Day. When that happens, I am in the theater usually every weekend. Granted we are barely past Memorial Day, but the last movie I saw was the Avengers, which I thought was much better than I expected it to be. This past weekend, a movie called Snow White and the Huntsman came out. It ended up being the #1 movie during the weekend, but I was not one of the people that contributed to that. To be honest, it looked like a much better movie that the other Snow White movie that came out earlier this year, which had Julia Roberts in it and was called Mirror Mirror, I think. That one seemed more like a family picture, which I’m not opposed to at all, but did not seem all that fun and exciting for me to watch, so I didn’t.
This more latter one seemed much more interesting, had more action, had the always hot Charlize Theron in it, and had a much less Disney take on the classic fairy tale. Why not watch it huh? Oh, right. Kristen Stewart, AKA Bella, was playing the heroine. Now, I know that I should not let a movie taint the actress. But, for some reason, I just can’t help it in this case. It’s not a normal thing for me. I mean, I’ve seen movies that had the actresses from Sex and the City in them before. So, I just don’t know why. I mean, maybe it’s because she is a terrible actress? I saw the first Twilight movie, and well, to say that she has only one way to act would be an understatement. It’s funny how I Love You, I Hate You, I’m Scared, and I’m Happy can all be said in the same monotonous tone. She’s like the Shaquille O’Neal of acting, only without the Hall of Fame and championship credentials. Shaq always spoke in the same drone, but at least he always had basketball to fall back on. I suppose Stewart now has Twilight, which is ending soon but it’s unbelievable and unexplainable success has guaranteed that she will not disappear anytime soon, as this latest Snow White movie attests to.
Will this mean I will never watch this movie and anything else in the future that she is in? Well, I have not seen any Twilight movies since the first, and I don’t plan on watching the final one, which once again the studios greedily split into two movies. But, I don’t think that I will never, ever watch a move that she is in. I mean, what happens if they ever cast her in the next Spider-Man movie? I have to watch that right? But, who knows. Maybe one of these days I will watch the movie if it shows up on cable. I have been watching Once Upon a Time on TV, and it has somewhat gotten me interested in that and many other fairy tales. So, we’ll just see. No paying money for a ticket to watch it though.
