Women and babies
What is up with women and babies? No, I don’t mean women wanting to have babies or their biological clock ticking or anything. I mean, once you bring a baby into the room, they go all gaga and drop everything they are doing to go and play with the baby, proclaiming how cute he/she is, playing with, making funny faces at, etc. The other day, someone brought their baby into work. She is maybe 6 months old?? For sure less than a year. So what happened? Literally every single woman in our section stopped what they were doing, got up, and kept commenting about how cute she was, asking how old she was, how pretty her clothes were, making faces to try to get her to laugh. What did the guys do? They kept working, and occasionally looked over just to see what all the big fuss was about.
I looked at the baby, and yes I admit she was cute. Not just saying that either, like I always will do when some woman asks me if her baby is cute. WTH do you think I’m going to say if you ask me that stupid question? Of course I’ll say your baby is cute. Might not be what I’m thinking, but whatever. Regardless, getting back to my question, what exactly is it? Is it biological and they have no choice? Do they think that if they are around babies they are more likely to get pregnant? Is it a courtesy thing among women, kind of like guys can’t talk to each other when they are peeing in the urinals? It just happens without fail, even if the women don’t even know the baby’s parents that well. Now, if I have a close friend and they bring their baby into the room, yes I’ll go and say hi and see the baby. Maybe do so if it was like a boss too, since you pretty much have to. But, someone I hardly know? Ummmmmm, I’ll just keep working at my desk. I don’t see the big deal, its just a baby. Now, someone brings in a new, huge big screen TV….
