I read an article that said CNN has now fallen to 3rd during primetime among news channels. They are behind the far and away #1 Foxnews and the new #2 MSNBC. What does this tell me? That people don’t want to hear the news any more. They want to hear opinions or very slanted versions of the news. Granted, CNN probably leans more left than right, but their newscasts are not usually filled with the rants, raves and opinions of its anchors. Bill O’Reilly recently reached his 100th consecutive month at #1. That is an amazing feat, no matter what you think of him or his program or his network. And, MSNBC is still riding high on the election of the new President, with their direct counterpart Keith Olberman.
This is one of the reasons why I do not like politics in this country. People don’t think for themselves. They just “believe” whatever their political party, relgion, group, etc. tells them to. And now, with Foxnews on the right and MSNBC on the left, its easier than ever to not think, but to just watch your network. You can watch Foxnews and see how Obama is a terrible President, spending money left and right, bringing socialism to our country, or you can watch MSNBC, where Obama is the 2nd coming, doing everything he can to right the ship that the Bush administration sank.
What’s CNN to do? Its obvious that people no longer care about objective news. Should they follow the same path? But, there is only left and right in this country, so they either have to copy one, or God forbid, report objectively. Wow, that’s an interesting idea. But, will it work in a country where the people no longer think but are just sheep and follow the masses, that is, “news” channel of their party? I think we’ll have to see a few more months or years down the line and observe what happens.
Has anyone out there just wanted to use a bat to beat the living crap out of something, like a car, or just want to throw some plates or cups against a wall as hard as you can? Or is it just me? There are so many times where I just want release everything and suffer no consequences or repercussions, or have to clean up afterward. It would be so awesome if I could just pound the living crap out of a car just to let go of all pent up frustrations, and just throw every object I have across the room and break them into a million pieces. But, it just would take up so much more time fixing the car or cleaning up all of the glass, so much so that after you were done you will have bottled up that much more anger and frustration with the mop up.
Maybe I should start up some type of business where I invest in cheap plates, mugs, cups, beat up cars, or whatever. People could come in, throw whatever shit they saw, put as many fists as they could into the walls, beat whatever object is nearest to them. I can guarantee that there is more than enough pent up anger and frustration out there. I just don’t think people would pay me to allow them to release it. But imagine the good I could do in the world. If they released everything at my place, then they no longer would have to release it at home, whether it be on their own possessions or even, sadly, significant others. I could lower that frustration, increase the peace. I could win the freaking Nobel Peace prize!
I’m at the gym today, doing my normal thing on the treadmill. I’m running for about 15 minutes about half way through my normal run, getting a nice sweat. Some ordinary looking person steps up and starts jogging on the machine to my right. About 30 seconds later, I wanted to throw up. It smelled that bad. I have not smelled that bad an odor in a very long time, and I regularly pick up after my dog in the backyard. Suffice to say, I stopped running on the treadmill as I was just literally not physically able to anymore. No more treadmills were available, so I just did some machines. Didn’t get to finish my run, was upset about that. But, I can’t complain because the second I stepped away, I was able to breathe again and I forgot that I was upset that I couldn’t finish my run. There’s got to be some rule against that, shouldn’t there be???
So, I’ve been playing this application on Facebook for a couple weeks now, and I’ve just about peaked I think. I have a score of about 24k, and can’t come close to it any longer. My friends have high scores of like 41k or 37k, and even one at 70+k. WTF!! For those that don’t know, its like Text Twist, in which there are 6 letters which you have to make words out of. If you make a 4 letter word, you get 2 seconds added to your time, and if you make a 5 or 6 letter word, you get 3 seconds. If you find the 6 letter word, you get a bonus round, in which you have to descrambe 6 letters to spell one of your friends.
Anyway, I’ve tried numerous different strategies that I can think of and I just can come close to 30k like my friends. They actually competed against each other and beat each others’ scores in like an hour of playing, and I’ve been playing for a couple weeks and am dying! My vocabulary level is not that bad, and I type pretty fast. I just can’t do it. Anyone have any hints or do I just give up at 24k and move on???! LOL.
I’m sure many of you out there have been forced to use Ticketmaster, since pretty much any type of live event uses it exclusively to sell their tickets. The “convenience” charges on these are so exorbitant per ticket, but we pretty much have to let them stick it in our asses.
I just went to the site before writing this. Chose a random event, a circus playing in LA. Put down 2 adult tickets at $15 each and 2 children at $10 each. “Convenience” charge for the adult ones were $6.50 each and for the children ones $5.00 each. WTF? First of all, why the hell do they charge more for the adult ticket? I mean, it doesn’t cost any more to print a $15 dollar ticket than it does a $10 dollar one. And what is the percent charge on this? 40+ percent for the adult one and 50% for the child? Are you kidding me?
I bought tickets for Avenue Q recently, and will be watching it next weekend. Just out of principle, I drove to the OCPAC to get them. Not like I can’t afford to pay this charge, but for 6 tickets, that’s over 60 bucks saved. Sigh, I wish there was actually some real competition when it comes to selling tickets. But, alas, we are stuck with the monopoly with no viable alternative, and have to live with it.
I don’t know what it is lately, but I’ve been feeling very blah lately. Vague huh? I’m feeling like my life is just oh so routine and I’m just going through the motions. Wake up at 7, go to work and just get by there, go to the gym, go home and eat, take a shower, go online, read a little, then go to sleep. Then you know what? Do it all over again the next day. Is this what life is about? Monday to Friday is literally the same for me every week. Why am I feeling like that of late?
I hang and do cool stuff on the weekends with friends, but that always goes by too quickly. I’m just living the week to get to the weekends, and sometimes it feels like there should be more to life then that. I’m not unhappy in any way. Just coasting through life, if that makes any sense. Am I bored? Do I need to change things up? My friends and I are trying to do some project, so hopefully that will inject some life and energy into an otherwise monotonous and routine M-F. Here’s hoping. I have homework to do for that project, so that’s what I’m going to do now!

I saw this on Saturday night with a group of friends. I first heard of this show many months ago from my aunt, who told me it was the funniest musical, and that she loved it. So, when I saw that it was playing here in OC, I decided to watch it. I had also heard from other friends who watched it and they all loved it too. So, why not huh?
So I watched it, and what did I think? I thought it was freaking hilarious, and I loved it. As you can see in this picture, the show’s characters are puppets controlled onstage by actors. They are largely parodies of Sesame Street characters, like Bert and Ernie or the Cookie Monster. It takes place in a run down area of New York, with a large theme of the musical being purpose, as in finding your purpose in life. The show definitely has its fill of profanity and raunchiness, but the underlying thing is that it is very funny and very entertaining. If its ever playing in your area, I’d totally recommend seeing it.

Saw this movie on Sunday night, during its 2nd weekend of release. I had seen the original, and had not seen any of the subsequent sequels. This movie takes place 5 years after the original movie, with the original cast back in place. Vin Diesel is still on the run from authorities, and Paul Walker is now an FBI agent trying to catch a drug dealer. And well, that’s about all the plot you need to know about because if you are watching this film, you are not watching it for the story.
If you liked the first movie, then you should enjoy this one. I can’t speak for the sequels because I didn’t see them. All I know is that the entire original cast were not in any of the sequels, and as the tagline for this movie states, they return for this one. This is just a nice, sit down and enjoy the action type of movie. Souped up cars, hot women, physics defying fictional car chases, fight scenes, shootouts, etc. If you expect it in an action movie, you’ll see it in here. Don’t expect an overly complex plot because you will not get one. Its just good, action packed fun. Escapism, what have you. If that’s what you want, go and watch it. If not, then just rent it or skip it altogether. I had fun watching it, and its pumped me up for the action movies to come this summer!
I don’t go to my actual site very often. I’ll write a post, then publish it, and just assume it gets published correctly without actually going to my site to check on it. Well, I just checked my site and while looking at it, I was shocked when I looked at the archives on the side and saw that I’ve been at this for over a year now!! Whoa!! I always get bored of things so quickly, so that really surprised me. I can’t believe I’m one year older since I’ve started writing on this. The sad thing is that I don’t really feel like I’ve accomplished all that much in the last year or so. At the same job. Still trying to save up to buy a house. Sigh.
But, what are my thoughts thinking back over the last year with respect to jasers.com alone? To tell you the truth, more times then not, I don’t know what to write. I kind of just lay in my bed trying to think what’s on my mind and my mind is empty way too often! In a way, I kind of treat it the same way I do about going to the gym. For that, I just go every day after work because if I only go to the gym when I feel like it, it ain’t going to happen very often. I’m afraid the same will happen to me if I don’t write regularly. So, I try to maintain a M-Th schedule. As you can tell, some posts are way more interesting than others.
Also, I will say that I do not get as personal as I would if people I knew did not read this blog. Seriously. Do you know how many secrets I could spill, diatribes I could fill, punk people I could rant about? Yes, yes, I know that would be a much, much more interesting read for all of you. But, you would then not like me anymore and I’d lose all my friends and then you’d stop reading this anyway. So, guess a delicate balancing act is needed.
Anyway, can’t believe its been more than a year. Who knows how many more posts I have in me. But, here is one more.
Lakers vs Jazz
This was probably not the Lakers ideal 1st round match up, but the Jazz did pretty much end the season terribly. Near the end of the season it looked like they were the team no one wanted to see in the playoffs, and then they just nose dived. Lakers, while not really peaking to end the season, should nevertheless handle the Jazz. They beat them last year in 6 games. This year, the Lakers are better and the Jazz are not. Lakers in 5.
Nuggets vs Hornets
I’ve not liked the Nuggets all season, and honestly think they might be among the worst #2 seeds in history. But, #2 they are. They have big men, but they are not great in the post, and they are better secondary defenders than they are primary. The Hornets have looked good when they are healthy, but have not been for most of the year. They still are not completely. But, I still think the Hornets two best players are better than the Nuggets best two. If Chandler plays himself into shape, they might be back where they were last year. Other than the Lakers series, I don’t think any team defeating another in the West would be considered an upset, regardless of seed. Hornets in 7.
Spurs vs Mavericks
This matchup is actually quite intriguing to me. Manu is hurt, but the Spurs have beaten the Mavericks this year without him. Duncan does not look good however, whether it be age or injury. Parker is balling though. The Mavericks actually looked pretty good to end the season. If their stars are clicking, they are a tough team to beat. The teams I think could go either way. Therefore, I will give the edge to not only home court, but also to the superior coach in Pops. I think the Spurs have one series in them this year, but that is it. Spuirs in 7.
Blazers vs Rockets
I would have totally chosen the Rockets in this had I not seen their game against Dallas. They looked decent in the middle of the game, but when it came to crunch time, Yao was pretty much shut out because of Dallas D, haha, and then all they did at the end was have Artest jack up 3′s. Not much of an offense, and nothing that will win tight games in the playoffs. Blazers are super tough at home this year, and while young, are much more balanced offensively and defensively. Blazers in 7.
Cavs vs Pistons
I think sometimes playoff experience can be overrated. And when it does, it means the team is old. Why the Pistons have no chance against the Cavs, even if they played all 7 games in Detroit. There was a reason why Dumars traded for AI to get cap space. He knows the window is over, and its time to rebuild. The Cavs, IMO, are not as good as everyone says they are. Just look at their record against the elite teams. But, they don’t have the best record in the league for nothing either. They will easily take care of the Pistons. Cavs in 5.
Celtics vs Bulls
I can’t believe the Bulls lost their last game of the season to the lowly Raptors, and now have to face the defending champs. I’m not saying that it would of mattered because they wouldn’t of beat the Magic anyway, but still. The Celtics proved that they could still play well without their superstar KG. He allegedly is going to be back for the playoffs, but who knows how serious his injury really is. With or without him, they will still beat the Bulls. Their defense is still good without him, and the Bulls are just too young and not as talented. Celtics in 5.
Magic vs 76ers
I don’t really know what happened to the Magic to end the season. They had a golden opportunity to get the #2 seed and thus home court against the Celtics in the 2nd round. They didn’t even have KG! But still they were something like 5-5 in their last 10 games. And you know what, I think it’ll cost them in that 2nd round. But, that’s the 2nd round and I’m talking about the 1st here. They will beat 76ers, who I actually like. They have a nice young team, and if they could somehow trade away Brand and his crazy contract, could be good in the future. Magic in 5.
Hawks vs Heat
I think that this is the only series in the East that can go either way. Dwayne Wade and these Heat remind me of Kobe and the Lakers a few years ago when Kobe was freaking amazing and pushed the Suns to 7 games because of a lucky Bell 3 pointer that would of pushed them to the 2nd round. Although, that Laker team was crappier (starting 5 of Kobe, Smush Parker, Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown) than this Heat team and was in a much tougher Western Conference. How he got 4th in the MVP race is beyond me and only proves the NBA MVP award is lame. Anyway, that being said, the Heat have Wade and for the most part nothing else. The Hawks are much more balanced, better than last year, and have home court. They were undefeated against the Celtics last year at home. These Heat are not better than last year’s Celtics. I think that as scary as Wade is, the Hawks are just more talented overall and will use their home court advantage. Hawks in 7.
